Documenting Salt-Air Corrosion on a Junk Car

Visible rust and seized components can affect condition, reusable parts and pickup planning.

Photograph Visible Corrosion

Capture wheel areas, rocker panels, door edges, trunk, hood and visible underbody sections without crawling beneath an unstable vehicle.

Describe Mechanical Effects

Explain seized brakes, damaged battery terminals, electrical problems, stuck doors or parts that cannot be removed normally. Do not claim hidden structural damage without an inspection.

Separate Rust From Other Damage

List collision, flooding, missing parts and corrosion independently so the vehicle condition is not oversimplified.

Confirm Movement and Access

State whether wheels roll and steering unlocks. Corrosion combined with a parking garage or tight space may change the removal plan.

Corrosion Questions

Does surface rust mean the vehicle has no value?

No single photo determines value. The complete vehicle, parts and pickup situation must be reviewed.

Should I repair rust before selling?

Compare repair cost and likely benefit before investing in a vehicle you intend to sell as junk.
