Ask the Shop Whether the Vehicle Can Be Released
Contact the repair shop before requesting pickup. Confirm that the vehicle is still on the property, that the owner is authorized to remove it and that the shop will release it during the proposed time. Ask whether storage, diagnostic, repair or other charges must be resolved directly with the shop.
The junk car buyer cannot decide a disagreement between the owner and the property. Do not schedule removal until the shop confirms that the vehicle may leave.
Provide the Shop Contact and Access Instructions
Give the buyer the business name, pickup address, normal access hours and the name of the person who can release the car. Explain whether a gate, loading area, crowded lot or another vehicle limits access. Confirm where a tow vehicle may enter and load without blocking the business.
Verify the Current Vehicle Condition
A car may change while it is at a shop. Ask whether the engine or transmission has been removed, wheels are missing, parts are stored separately or the battery is disconnected. Confirm whether the car starts, rolls, steers, shifts into neutral and has keys. Request current photos rather than relying on older pictures taken before repairs began.
Prepare Ownership Information
Explain the title or registration status and ask what identification or ownership documents the buyer requires. The person releasing the car at the shop may not be the owner, so confirm who must be present or what authorization is needed before pickup.
Confirm the Offer Before Dispatch
Make sure the offer reflects the vehicle’s present condition, including missing or disassembled parts. Confirm towing terms, the pickup contact and any shop restriction. A clear three-way plan helps prevent the driver from arriving when the vehicle cannot be released.
