Selling a Car With a Convertible Top That Will Not Close
A convertible top that will not close changes more than a car's appearance. For a Hallandale Beach junk car inquiry, describe the top's current position and any interior exposure separately from engine condition. The buyer needs an accurate view of the complete vehicle.
Describe the position without forcing the mechanism
Say whether the top is open, partly raised or closed but unable to latch. Explain what you last observed and whether any parts were removed during a repair attempt. Do not force the mechanism to make the car look complete for a photo. Photograph its current position so the buyer can review the actual configuration.
Report interior exposure and visible damage
Tell the buyer if the interior was exposed to rain or if upholstery and carpets appear damp. Include current photos rather than only older images of the closed top. Avoid assuming that an interior looks unchanged because the car has not been driven. If a cover is being used, describe it and whether it conceals a damaged area.
Confirm a sale in its present condition
Ask whether the buyer can review the whole car with the top as it stands and which additional views are needed. Confirm whether the car rolls and where it is parked. Before scheduling, agree on the amount, components included and collection setup. A quote for a closed, complete convertible should not be carried over without an update if its condition changed.
Must I repair the top before requesting an offer?
You can begin an inquiry for the car in its present condition. Explain the top problem and any related damage. Ask the buyer to confirm acceptance and terms; repairs do not guarantee that their cost will be recovered in a sale.
